Meet The Mama: Our Very Own Kourtney Coomans
Our very own Kourtney Coomans, despite her seemingly succinct job title (Customer Experience lead) is a total multi-hyphenate. She’s one of those people that has smarts and instincts that we tap into daily from design input to color development. She currently lives in Salt Lake City and has called both New York City and The Bay Area home at certain points in her life. Following the birth of her second son, we had to ask her what’s changed since motherhood—and how does she manage being so kicka** at Doddle while also chasing two active boys.
Hi Kourtney! Where are you from? Where do you live now? How did you get to where you are today?
I am from Salt Lake City and I currently live here. My husband and I met when he was living in NYC and I was in Utah. I "happened" to get an internship with the Colbert Report in NYC a few months after we started dating long distance and I moved to NYC. I lived there for 5 years—and 6 months after we had our first baby we moved to the Bay Area of California. We lived in California for 2 years and because of my husband’s job we ended up moving to Salt Lake City. We weren't super excited about being back, but it has been a huge blessing since having our second baby. Being near family has been amazing! I will say that I don't think we will be here forever.
What’s the biggest change in your life since baby #2 arrived?
The biggest change is trying to keep two little humans alive and happy, and staying patient and calm in between. I always thought of myself as a patient person, but when the baby came it was like my patience with my first child disappeared (we will blame it on the sleep deprivation and hormones).
Big question: Who was Kourtney before motherhood and who is she now?
I never realized exactly what it took to be a parent. I didn't know how much I was capable of loving. It really has made me appreciate my parents so much. I know how much they sacrificed for me and now I want to do the same for my littles. Before motherhood I would say I was pretty easy going and never had much of a plan, I would just wing everything. Now I always need a plan!

What does "balance" look like to you?
Oh gosh, balance is a hard one! Luckily my husband is great with taking the kids so I can go and get coffee with my girlfriends or go to a workout class. At first I felt guilty doing things for me but the more I do them the more I realize how important it is. I am a much better mom when I give myself some love.
Do you have any mom hacks? Tricks you rely on to get through the day?
Mom hacks: never too early to drink? J/K. I don't drink but every day I am tempted to—ha! Coffee and diet coke are generally what save me. I also try to get out of the house at least once a day. It really breaks the day up and resets my mind.

What are the parent essentials you can't live without?
Pops and Chews, obviously! My little guy is starting to teeth and loves his Chew. I put them in the freezer to make them nice and cold. We also love our Miku baby monitor. It shows me my baby Conrad’s breathing patterns and makes me feel comforted knowing he’s ok. We can't live without our sound machine too. We take it everywhere!
What is your role at Doddle?
I handle anything that is customer experience related, on the consumer side and the retail side. Because we are such a small (but mighty) company there are a lot of things I help with, anywhere from marketing campaigns to business operations.
What do you like about the Pop or Chew? What does Conrad like about them?
There are so many things I like about both! I not only love the look of The Pop but its function, it is genius. My 3 year old loves popping the pop into place and giving it to the baby. He feels like he is such a helper! I love the size of The Chew. It’s perfect for little hands. We have multiple around the house because my 3 year old loves playing with them too.
